I have been starting to work on a new project for a group that I belong to. Wanting to try out using sewing machine embroidery stitches and Romeo this is the result. I'm not sure yet what the finished design will look like, but this is just a jumping off point. I used two shades of variegated threads, each also run with a coordinating plain thread. This makes the variegated thread more subtle and also creates more strength to the stitches.

Creating with a friend

This morning I was working with a friend - she is an oil painter who is interested in trying different mediums and crafts. We are making fabric book covers. Next week we meet to finish off our designs. The idea with this is to keep the materials affordable.

Not so inspiring

Well I tried. The images had difficulty 'talking' to me. I did a couple of sketchbook pages and designed some fabric, but it's really not my thing. But I did like the metal (tomato paste tube) fired on the gas hob. I added some foil and was rather pleased with the effect.

It felt like a good time to experiment with new items. I have added fabric bracelets and luggage tags to my product line and also, just for fun made myself a wallet for my business cards.

Images at the Forum

I feel inspired to work a little differently than normal. Usually my images are of the great outdoors, and often are close up pictures of plants etc.
The photos of the Forum will be a challenge to get me to work with a more straight line (literally) approach, and are not at all close up, in fact, just the opposite.
My intentions are to work wit these images in my sketchbook and see what happens. Sometimes it's good to be out of your comfort zone.
